Visual Art Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant, After School Program, BEYE Discovery

August 22, 2018 through May 31st, 2019

Part-time: M, T, TH, F: 2:50 - 6:20pm; W: 2:20 – 6:20pm;

The Teaching Assistant will greet children as they enter the room; help children clean tables for snack; take attendance; notify the Program Director of children who are absent (or in her absence, phone the office and parents to verify children who are absent); supervise the clean-up of snack, restroom use, and the movement of children from the classroom to outdoor play; supervise children during outdoor play and indoor free play (during inclement weather); help to organize and distribute supplies for certain projects; work with the Program Director to facilitate a variety of activities with a focus on art and science; demonstrate techniques; teach skills; facilitate clean-up; escort children to parents at child pick-up; and be willing to assist in other capacities that will facilitate the safe and efficient delivery of the program.

Optional: Summer Camp Teaching Assistance from July 30, 2018 through August 10, 2018, M-F, morning and/or afternoon sessions.

1. Location is at Beye Elementary School in Oak Park, IL

2. Accessible via the CTA Green line

3. Candidates must be willing to submit to a background check

Beye Discovery is a program of the Beye PTO that offers children opportunities for growth and exploration through creative project-based learning in art and nature based science

 

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

Qualifications: 
1. Excellent rapport with children (enthusiastic, patient, nurturing, attentive) 
2. Strong work ethic (punctual, dedicated, engaged, focused) 
3. Successful completion of 2 years college coursework in visual art and/or science, or can demonstrate ability in one or more of these areas 
4. Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to work as part of a team

5. Ability to climb 3 flights of stairs, with frequency, during child pick-up
